Sustainability
We're doing our bit to be as sustainable as we can in our hostel.
From using eco focused cleaning products, over recycling to ironing less, we minimise our impact.
REDUCE
NATURAL MATERIALS
We favour biodegradable & sturdy long lasting materials (wood, cotton, bamboo) over brittle plastics or polyester fibres in all areas of our day-to-day business.
BIODEGRADABLE
Our cleaning products are vegan, UK produced, and contain only biodegradable ingredients. This significantly reduces the output of harmful biotoxins or contaminants into our surrounding environment.
REDUCE WASTE
We buy our cleaning products in recycled bulk containers and refill them into reusable high quality industrial spray bottles to reduce waste in form of single-use products.
WASHING
To reduce our energy consumption we have decided against ironing all of our bedlinen and are following scientific advice of washing hygienically, where possible, at low temperatures.
RECYCLE
In our self-catering accommodation kitchen, we provide baking paper and aluminium foil made from 100% recycled materials.

We encourage trash separation - the Highland Council has a very good recycling system.

NEW FROM OLD
We source a lot of our furniture from regional second hand locations and renovate them to give them new life.
recycled COTTON
For our day-to-day cleaning we mainly use hygienically washable cloths and mop heads. They can be reused for a long period of time and are mostly biodegradable.
bamboo
Our bedding is all made from a mix of natural fibres, such as bamboo & recycled microfibres. The duvets are covered in chemical-treatment-free fabric and 100% recyclable at the end of their lifespan.
WASHING
Our electricity supplier produces 100% renewable energy from sources such as wind farms.
