OUR COVID PROMISE

Doing our bit

Highland Basecamp are taking every precaution we can to protect our guests & the small village we're in. We believe it's our duty to do as much as we can to operate safely and fully within current government guidelines.

The most recent government information can be found on gov.scot.

Social Distancing

Our Bunkhouse is unique in that each room exits to the outside. We have no shared internal corridors or hallways - they are all open with no doors or windows. Both of these key things allow us to minimise social interaction between different groups of guests. Our large outside decking area allows for ample space between groups when relaxing of an evening.

Room Cleaning

During your stay with us, the only people entering your room is you. When you check out we ask that you follow these super simple steps:

  1. Please remove your bed linen, place it in the bag provided & leave in your room.

  2. Open the door & window.

  3. Leave your key in the door.

Opening the door and window allows for as much air as possible to circulate before we begin cleaning. We'll then use appropriate solutions to deep clean the room ready for our next guests whilst wearing PPE.

Contact Free Check In

Not only do all our rooms exit to the outside, but we're offering complete contact free check in. Our three simple check in steps are:

  1. Few days before your stay, we'll send you a message with your room number & lockbox code. This lockbox contains your key and is outside your room.

  2. Pop in the code & grab your sanitised key.

  3. Enter your room & enjoy your stay!

Self Catering Kitchen

Our kitchen has had a refurbishment and is open for use by our guests. According to the Scottish government guidelines face coverings are required in most indoor public spaces and the windows should be left open to aid ventilation. https://www.gov.scot/coronavirus-covid-19/

The situation hasn't changed from our update on 1st September 2021.

1st September 2021

With Scotland still moved out of the levels system the government now advises all businesses and workplaces should follow the safer businesses and workplaces guidance. This replaces most of the previous sector-specific guidance. And we are following the safer businesses and workplaces guide produced by the Scottish government.

These guidances also apply to our self catering kitchen and lounge which are now fully open as of this month.

9th August 2021

The latest from the government is that Scotland has moved out of the levels system. Everyone should continue to act carefully and remain cautious. We at Highland Basecamp are still committed to the same high level of cleaning we have been doing since we opened, and we intend to keep this up. Our hostel in Lochaline will continue to operate a self check in and out meaning you can arrive at any time, and the whole process is quick, easy and safe. As always we encourage our guests to keep up to date with any changes to the government guidelines on gov.scot.

19th July 2021

Scotland has now moved to Level 0, and all the details of this can be found on gov.scot. This has not changed our attitude to cleaning however and we'll still be maintaining our high standards across our entire site. Social distancing outside and inside has had a significant change, and we ask our guests to ensure they are aware of the new regulations before their stay begins at Highland Basecamp.

1st July 2021

We're located in the Highlands of Scotland & currently at Covid Level 1. We are following all recommended government guidelines to keep our guests, the local community and our team as safe as possible.

We are in the process of completing a very thorough deep clean of the entire site, especially the all the bunk rooms. This involves every single surface being disinfected using the appropriate cleaning products. We are prioritising a deep clean of the rooms first before we move onto the kitchen & lounge area which is under refit at the moment - this is not planned to be open for a little while longer.
